Hello!

My name is Taylor Michelle Wilson. I am currently a college freshman living in Kentucky. I have my sights set on a career in the visual arts. Starting at a young age, I have learned and grown my skills and passion for art. And in time I hope to grow even more.

Artist Statement

I work in multiple different mediums, including paints, alcohol markers, pen, and pencil. However, the way I create most of my pieces is with digital art. It allows me a lot of creative freedom to express my ideas: my main reason for creating. Through my art, I tell stories of characters that I create, and I can express emotions and messages that are bottled up. Even one-off pieces that aren’t a series have some sort of story that I make as I go along. Art unlocks a whole other world for me and allows me to explore it to my heart’s content. And by creating, I can share these worlds that fascinate me with others in hopes of entertaining and inspiring them too. It always fills me with joy when people get invested in a story or character I’ve created. 

The way I create is heavily influenced by my need to create stories. I often start out a piece with some inspiration or idea. Often it comes from a song, book, show, image, or video that I saw, and then shoots off from there. I often write notes about the character and drawing in the sketch layer to let myself know where I’m going with it. From there, I let the drawing take me in whatever way I think it should go, whether that be full rendering, a character sheet, or a line-less painting.
